Associate Editor, 2001-2002

Audrey Amrein obtained her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies in the College of Education at Arizona State University in May 2002. While a doctoral student, Audrey worked as a Research Professional in the Arizona State University, Division of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. Her current research focuses on high stakes testing policies and their effects on students from racial minority and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. During the 2001-02 year she examined the extent to which high stakes tests have affected multiple indicators of achievement and school quality in states that have attached severe consequences to student, school, and district performance on tests.

Collaborating with David Berliner and Bruce Biddle, she is in the process of publishing a series of educational policy reports for the Rockefeller Foundation. In addition to her high stakes testing study, the series of Rockefeller reports will concentrate on charter schooling, voucher programs, tax credits, teacher quality and retention, school funding and subsequent disparities, and class sizes, all of which will be examined in relation to their impact on students from racial minority and economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
